A garden of inspiration
Tue. November 29, 2011
There is the odd down side with being an antique dealer…..I can’t think of many at the moment, but there are many more positives from our chosen profession. The one we gain much pleasure from is meeting interesting and inspiring people. Back in the summer we were lucky enough to visit Marchants Hardy Plants and I met Graham Gough and Lucy Goffin for the first time (Tim had met them previously and passed on his enthusiasm for them) . I would say that I am fairly dangerous, in terms of spending in any nusery but this one is something special and I am already planning another trip.
The planting is a perfect combination of herbaceous perennials and ornamental grasses with curving paths. The garden buildings sit perfectly in their surroundings and I promise you will not be disappointed by a visit here.
Despite being a few months, well possibly a year away, from being ready to plant our garden (we have to rid the soil of a plague of bind weed and rasberry cane roots), I couldn’t resist purchasing a very deep inky blue agapanthus, another grey variety and a special sea holly (lost the label) and a grass which compliments the blue agapanthus perfectly. It was one of my highlights of 2011.
We loved this picture of Graham peeking out the grass.
