Garden Crawl
Sun. July 13, 2014
One of my favourite events of the year is the Ferryside garden crawl. Kind residents of the village open their gardens and our usually empty roads and paths are full with people wandering from house to house. This year the sun shone gloriously and the gardens (we only manage about five because we stop too often for chats, bits of things to eat and drink) were excellent. Rob and Alison had a full railway track and cable car which was much enjoyed by the Bowen an Williams children. Penny and Tony Bean have the sort of garden that feeds the soul, veg growing side by side with flowers and shrubs and a simply constructed green house (see Mr B standing in front of it below) which on the day of our visit was full of tomato’s and does the job. They have a lovely shed with a collection of interesting old bottles and stuff. Anthony and David at Gothic Villa have created a colourful beds which have been mulched with cockle shells (images above). Rob and Becky Harley and Mimi their dog are some of my favourite people. Mimi now in her dottage occasionaly feels the need for some help when on her daily Ferryside walks. See Megan (Bowen) with Mimi below in matching pushchairs with me, Becky H and two other smaller Bowen’s .
