Hooray for Hay
Tue. June 3, 2014
Last week the Bowen family enjoyed a day at the Hay Festival. We have wanted to experience the Hay festival for some time but we always seem to be busy during the Whitsun half term holiday, possibly because it clashes with the Urdd Eisteddfod. We weren’t able to visit the Urdd which was in Bala this year, so we trod the soil or is that mud of the fields of Hay in our wellies instead. The children were entertained by a Peter Rabbit show and lots of new friends made. We grown ups slightly regretted not booking a few more talks earlier but the talk I managed to get a ticket for was by Emma Bridgewater (see my other Hay purchase below) and Mathew Rice. I am a fan of their pottery and Year in the Country calander and they seem very nice people. We bought the excellent new book about the work of Shani Rhys James The Rivalry of Flowers, and are seriously hoping to blow our pension pot on one of her paintings at some point soon. Sadly we missed her talk/s at the Hay Festival by a day.
