Made in Britain

Tim and I are addicted to news, whether it be watching or listening or reading. However, our favourite news slot is at 7pm on Channel 4 when the children have gone to bed and we can slob in front Jon Snow and team. We were interested in Sarah Smith’s feature this week Made in Britain where she has found that very little is actually still made here.
We would like to say that, aside from the odd French table, everything we sell is made in Britain and also demonstrates the skill, craftsmanship and keen eye for design that many of these makers of the past had. If a carpenter were making the objects we sell today, they could not be made for the same price as we now sell them for. This can either be viewed as a sad reflection of how our vernacular furniture is appreciated today, or as a spectacular buying opportunity. Who knows, with the stock and bond markets in the doldrums, precious metals at an all time high price, our beautiful furniture and objects of the past may be viewed as a fantastic investment opportunity!! Move over Van Gough and make way for a bacon settle!
