A rare hand painted pottery plate depicting Mari Jones, made at the South Wales Pottery, Llanelly and decorated by Samuel Shufflebotham

Mari Jones was known as the Welsh Bible girl. In 1800 she walked twenty six miles barefoot across the hills of North Wales to Bala, to buy a copy of a Welsh language Bible from the Rev Thomas Charles.
