An inlaid sideboard is illustrated in Welsh Furniture by L. Twiston-Davies & H.J.Lloyd-Johnes. Cardiff 1950

……Plate 114 depicts a small sideboard made by Owen’s of Haverfordwest. Messrs. Owen specialised in Regency style furniture, which they manufactured well into the middle of the nineteenth century. The black inlay shown in this example was popular in Pembrokeshire , and much used by local cabinet-makers.

And the following is from Welsh Furniture 1250-1950 Vol II by Richard Bebb.

….The sons of William Owen (Haverfordwest cabinet maker)- William and James – joined and succeeded him and established themselves as the principal architects and builders as well as furniture makers to the local elite, working as far north as Plas Llangoedmore in Cardiganshire where their accounts showed that they furnished the drawing room. William Jnr in particular became in the process a wealthy gentleman himself, and was four times the Mayor of Haverfordwest and in 1850 Sheriff of the county. In 1839 the brothers were commissioned to build a new mansion at Scolton to the north of the town, and the accounts of 1843 show that they were also responsible for much of the furnishing, including carved and gilt poles and cornices, carpets, marble hearthstones, as well as [a] Handsome Chamber Glass…£3 3s 0d [and] 4 Handsome Mahogany Bookcases for Library….£38 11s 0d. A large fitted cabinet with a secretaire drawer remained, and features the characteristic ebonized inlay….

An inlaid side chair is also illustrated on page 222 in Vol II.
