Sugar Nippers – After refining and clarifying, sugar was poured into conical moulds to set. Metal sugar cutters or ‘nippers’ – small, hand ones, or larger ones mounted on wood – were used to break up the sugar loaves. From The National Trust book of Forgotten Household Crafts by John Seymour.
