Jane Davies, born in 1843, was aged 8 in 1851; the census return for that year shows her living at Tynycul in Cefndeisiog, Llanfihangel yng Ngwynfa, which is between Bala and Welshpool (near Lake Vyrnwy )

The family were: Robert aged 42 a farmer, Gwen aged 32 his wife, Jane aged 8, John aged 7, David aged 5, Elizabeth aged 3 and Robert aged 3 months and they employed 3 servants.
