Rayburn uses
Sat. November 10, 2012
Our very old Rayburn Royal is a 1950’s oil fueled conversion from a solid fuel model, carried out many years ago. Mr B complains that the kitchen is bouncing hot these days and the amount of fuel this oil guzzler uses. Of course he is right as he so often is. However, firstly the temperature is very rarely above 300 degrees and so everything is slow cooked, even cakes which take a little longer but usually turn out fine. It is used not just for cooking but also for drying clothes on the airer which was conveniently sited by the previous owner above the Rayburn. Having spent most of the summer drying clothes in the tumble dryer, it is very satisfying know that money is being saved on electricity. Of course one has to live with the fact that ones underwear is on display to anyone who happens to call in. Some friends were greeted by Mr B’s Christmas polar bear boxers the other day which of course aren’t just for Christmas. I have written before that the mat in front of the Rayburn is the gathering place for everyone and the placing of ones feet is always a consideration for the cook. Terrier heaven picture taken this morning.
