Sweet dreams

My garden, (it is of course our garden, but it is largely my passion rather than Tim’s) is full of glorious plants at this time of year. The hellebores have been hidden by lots of growth. Aquilegia pop up everywhere in white, purple and a deep maroon nearly black colour, as well as a pale and deep pink. Sweet rocket is prolific in both white and lilac whilst monks hood and foxgloves are so beautiful, but ensure the children do not venture into our sloping overgrown but otherwise quite charming garden. There are giant ferns that paint your legs with rain water but provide a lush feel to the garden. Unfortunately, other plants like nettle and bindweed are also prolific and grow far too quickly. The garden sits on a steep slope, but has been lovingly laid out by previous owners with low stone walls and narrow paths and steps. I have plans (budget allowing….what budget I hear Mr Bowen shout) to make a private seating area and another to build a sort of folly/summer house raised and accessible up some steps. Before all that I must sort out the paths which must either be turfed or membraned and covered with bark or wood chip. I would prefer the former but as this is truly a DIY job and my talents for laying lawn have never been tested. The latter option would be more sensible. Oh did I mention, whatever happens to my garden it must be shared with the hens who must continue to range free. I will keep you posted of progress but here are some images of it in all its glory.
