The Cauldron, The Spit and The Fire is the title of Tim’s current favourite book. Not a tale about Harry Potter as one might expect with such a name, but early kitchen and cooking utensils. The book by Robert Deeley published by Gold Cockerel Books in 2011, is full of good photographs, well written and with delightful saying’s at the foot of many pages. With chapters such as The Evolution of Cooking with Fire, Downheath, Bargate, Cranes, Pot-Hooks and Kettles and many more there is much to enjoy and even contains Izaak Walton’s recipe for cooking a carp….should one ever need it.
